2009 Program Components
Program components that offer overnight/travel experiences include:

Sailing Away
(July 12 - 18, 2009)
Returning for a second year is this one-of-a-kind sailing adventure aboard the schooner Brilliant, based out of Mystic, Connecticut. Youth, ages 14 - 21, will live on board a wooden schooner for 5 days while learning to sail and exploring the coastal areas off of Mystic, CT.

Delaware Beach Week
(July 18- July 25, 2009)
This week-long overnight trip with take young adults, ages 16 - 21, to Fenwick Island, DE to experience independent living in a rented beach house and to learn about historic Lewes, DE. This opportunity will include day trips to area beaches, historic locations, and other recreational activities like kayaking and fishing.

Vanguard Expedition
(August 2 - 10, 2009)
This popular travel trip is returning for a second year. This outdoor experience has been expanded from 5 to 7 days to offer youth, ages 14 - 21, opportunities to do more camping, canoeing, and exploring on Cardigan Mountain in New Hampshire.

Pennsylvania Grand Canyon Adventure
(August 10 - 14, Planning Week & August 16 - 22, Travel Week)
This two week program will allow young adults, ages 16 - 21, an opportunity to spend one week on our campus planning the details of their trip (including packing lists, meal planning/shopping, mapping directions, etc) and team building. The second week, the group will travel to Wellsboro, PA to spend 4 nights/5 days in a large cabin. This second week will focus on encouraging life skills and independent living while exploring Pine Creek Gorge and the surrounding area. Activities will include a covered wagon ride to the bottom of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, an historical train ride through mountain towns, hiking, and rafting.

Great Outdoors Adventure
(Aug. 10 - 16, Teen Session & August 17 - 22, Youth Session)
This popular program has added a new Youth session for 2009. Both sessions will include a variety of daytime adventures, including: rock climbing, hiking, geocaching and ziplining. The Teen Session (ages 13 - 21) will include a 3-night camping trip to an area state park. The Youth session (ages 10 - 12) will include a campus-based overnight camping experience.

Friends are Fundamental Social Skills Program

Primary (ages 6 - 9) - 1-week or 2-week options
Youth (ages 10 - 13) - 1-week or 2-week options
Teen (ages 14 - 21) - August 17 - 21

Alumni "Welcome Back" Week and Overnight Retreat
(Aug. 10 - 16, including a 2-night overnight trip for alumni, ages 21 - 25)

"Tools of the Trade" Furniture Making Program
