The Vanguard Transition Center, under the auspices of the Summer Matters program of Valley Forge Educational Services, offers a six-week summer experience that focuses on life skills, vocational and post-secondary training for students, ages 18-21.
Participating students will be assigned to one of three cohorts:
Within each of the cohorts, students may choose from the following strands:
All students will participate in workshops that focus on time and money management, interpersonal skills, self-advocacy and recreation/leisure skills.
Our week-long “Independent Living Residency” is a critical feature of the VTC Summer Experience. All participating students will spend one week residing together, along with experienced support staff, at Camp HOPE in Schwenksville (PA) while attending regularly scheduled daily programming.
The “Independent Living Residency” allows participating students to put critical life skills they’ve learned into practice in this “real world” setting.
