Summer Matters works actively to partner with other organizations in the community. Through these unique partnerships we are able to provide “real world” learning for our campers and cultivate healthy relationships with these groups. Some of our partners include:
The Center on Central has partnered with Summer Matters since 2009 – offering campers opportunities to explore their creativity through cartooning, singing, dance/movement, playing instruments and music technology.
Great Valley Nature Center has partnered with our organization over the past several years and will broaden its partnership in Summer 2012 by offering a series of “Weekend Adventures” and a “Wilderness Skills Week” through Summer L.I.F.E. Great Valley Nature Center will also be providing environmental education activities during our Spring 2012 Weekend Retreat at Camp HOPE for Kids.
HOPE for Kids began working with VFES in Spring 2010. Camp HOPE for Kids provides our campers with opportunities to have a traditional camp experience on their 90-acre property in Schwenksville, PA each summer. In addition, students in our ESY Programs also benefit from this partnership – participating in social activities alongside typical peers and developing vocational skills by assisting with landscaping, maintenance and other camp-related activities.
Summer Matters’ Respite Programs will begin offering local weekend retreats at Camp HOPE for Kids in Spring 2012.
Lavner Camps and Programs began working with Summer Matters programs in 2010 – offering specialty camps (Culinary Arts and Sports) in its first year and adding Computer Programming in Summer 2011. Lavner Camps and Programs will be offering Culinary Arts and Basketball instruction during our 2012 ESY Programs. In addition, they will offer their own programs (open to the community-at-large) on our campus in August 2012.
